The Guid Scots' Diet?
Children from Broughton Primary School are the first to taste the delights of a food history exhibition in Peebles.
And local museum curators are keen to tempt the tastebuds of youngsters throughout Peebleshire, and show that Scottish cuisine is about more than haggis and deep fried Mars Bars.
Exhibition boss, Rosemary Hannay told the Peeblesshire News: “There has been a lot of focus on diet in Scotland recently and schools are encouraging children to eat well.
“The exhibition aims to help people understand diets of the past and how we got to where we are.
“We hope kids will enjoy it and see that no food is really good or bad but that a good diet involves eating a wide variety of things.”
The ‘Guid Scot’s Diet?’ exhibition journeys through kitchens in time, from an early hunter-gatherer’s fire to a war-time breakfast table.
And knowledge hungry pupils can find out what was on the menu 10,000 years ago as well as seeing the arrow used to hunt the ingredients right here in Peeblesshire.
The exhibition will be running in Peebles until March 17.
