Pyjama Parade's charity boost
By Hannah Jefferson
PUZZLED VISITORS in Peebles may have wondered about local parents on Saturday as groups of toddlers wandered round the town in their pyjamas.
But the special dress code was all part of the Peebles Pyjama Parade.
And was just one of the yummy mummy week events raising money for the children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent.
Around 60 local children and parents gathered on Tweed Green for the walk.
Peebles mum Suzanne Harris joined with Kingsmeadows Nursery to organise the parade.
She told the Peeblesshire News: “We thought organising a Pyjama Parade was a great way to have fun with our families while raising money for families whose lives have been devastated by childhood cancer.”
Every 48 hours, 10 children are diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia and CLIC Sargent is a vital support for those who are affected.
Organisers hope to have raised at least £1000 towards the charity’s crucial work with thanks to the youngsters who toddled the circuit in their night-wear.
Suzanne Harris added: “We were thrilled with the number of people who turned out to join in.
“Everyone pulled together to make it a great success.”
The local promenade coincided with Pyjama Parades across Britain, including similar events in London, Birmingham, Bristol and Glasgow.
