GOLDEN girl Linda Nicholson has her eyes on Italy after winning two national titles at the weekend.

The 40-something sports coach sprinted to victory in the 60 metres at the Masters Championships in Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall over the weekend.

And followed up her success by leaping to victory in the long jump.

But the national titles now lead to the World Championships later this year at the Mediterranean coastal town of Riccione.

Following her weekend wins Linda told the Peeblesshire News: “I wasn’t sure how I would do at the Masters Championships so it’s a great surprise to win two titles.

“I’ve trained hard over the winter which has helped me improve a lot.

“I’ll concentrate on the professional circuit during the summer and then head for the Masters World Championships in Italy.”

Linda will be hoping to improve on last year’s seventh place at the European Championships when she heads for Riccione in September.
