VALE’S pre-season signing spree will continue this weekend.

Manager Stuart Robertson has already secured the signatures of 15 players ahead of his bid for promotion.

And another couple of new faces, who played in this week’s two-nil win over Penicuik Amateurs, are also expected to put their names to paper prior to the arrival of Motherwell on Monday night.

Club secretary Eck Currie told the Peeblesshire News: “With a few of the boys on holiday Stuart played a couple of trialists against Penicuik and he was impressed by them. He’s asked me to have them signed before Monday.

“Motherwell will be a good test for us, but we have nearly everybody back and I feel we will show up well against them.”

Attacking midfielder Craig Robertson, who comes from West Linton, is also being linked with the Victoria Park side when he returns from America later this year.

But one of Stuart Robertson’s most influential players, Ray Flemming, could be on his way out.

The battling midfield player has been approached by a junior club – and rumours suggest he may take up the offer.

Mr Currie added: “We are aware that an approach has been made for Ray. He’s on holiday just now and as far as we are concerned he is still a signed Vale player.

“We obviously can’t stop him moving on if that’s what he wants, but we hope he will stay.”

Peebles have also started their build up well – recording their third straight win on Monday night against Edinburgh University.

Mark Lamb’s new-look side defeated the students by a single goal.

But the games will get harder with the arrival of Alloa and Motherwell in the next 10 days.

Vale of Leithen’s match with Mark McGee’s Motherwell on Monday evening kicks off at7 p.m.
