Faye leaps to the top after long-jump success
PEEBLES high jumper Faye Nicholson reached her furthest ever distance at the weekend to claim silver in the East of Scotland Championships.
The 14-year-old jumped 5.18 metres to finish behind Edinburgh’s Anna Seago in the Under 17s event.
Mum and coach, Linda, told the Peeblesshire News: “Faye is jumping against girls much older than her and she’d been suffering from a bad cold in the run up to the championships so we were delighted with how she jumped.”
Faye is now aiming for the Scottish Schools Championships in June.
West Linton’s Olivia O’Hare also claimed a medal in the East Championships at Meadowbank.
The 13-year-old finished third in a highly-competitive Under 15s 1500 metres.
At the Scottish Under 16s Hill Running Championships Scout Adkin continued her impressive start to the season with a silver medal.
The 14-year-old led at the top of Ben Lomond but was pulled back on the descent to finish with a silver medal.
