FOOTBALLERS are being kitted out with free strips to celebrate the launch of a new six-a-side league in Peebles.

SoccerSixes.net, which organises games across the UK, is set to kick off the season at the town’s Leisure Centre later this month.

A total of 16 teams will compete in two divisions over 20 weeks every Tuesday between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Soccersixes Matt Scoffham told the Peeblesshire News: “We are extremely pleased to have secured a sponsorship deal to enable all our teams to have free kits for the league.

“It means that when teams join they will get a free kit that they can not only play in our league with but also take home and do what they want with it!”

And, he added: “The league will have a state-of-the-art website where teams can look at there league tables, fixtures, top players and view there opponents pictures and things. The website will be updated daily, the website is www.soccersixes.net.”

The league will be refereed by qualified officials and all equipment such as kits, bibs, and a ball will be provided.

Teams are charged £23 for each game – less than five pounds per player – and all standards are welcome.

Teams that win there division or finish runners up will qualify to play in national tournament in London against the top teams from 200 leagues throughout the country for the Soccersixes UK Championship and an all expenses paid trip to an international six-a-side tournament in Spain.

New teams wishing to join the league and get their hands on a free kit can contact SoccerSixes on 07896 562501 or leave their name, address and telephone number on the new team enquiry line 0870 330 0888 for an information pack.
