FRESH from their sell-out show at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, some young performers are staging their show back home.

Another Cut at the Fringe is on tonight (Friday) at the Eastgate Theatre from 7.30pm.

One summer day, a few weeks ago, 26 young people arrived at the Fiona Henderson School of Dance and Performing Arts to invest all their creativity and energy for the following five days to construct a show.

They each brought many different talents and levels of experience.

Aged between 11 and 17, some specialised in dance, and some in singing and acting. All were willing to work together as a team to stage an event that featured all their diverse abilities and unique personalities.

The result was a wonderful show which sold out in an instant, leaving many of their families and friends without a ticket.

Principal, Fiona Henderson, decided immediately to remedy that by hiring the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles for the aptly named “Another Cut at the Fringe” show.

In fact, this promises to be even more spectacular than the Fringe show, which was limited to one hour.

Two of the dancers had also assisted local choir Inchorus in all of their Fringe shows by dancing during several of their numbers. It seemed right, therefore, that InChorus show its support by performing at the Eastgate too.

Fiona said: “After all the effort the young people had put into the Fringe show, I didn’t think it fair that some of their loved ones were unable to see it.

"I resolved to make sure that anyone who hadn’t managed to see us in Edinburgh would be able to see us at home.”

Tickets (£10, £8 and £5 for schoolchildren) are still available from the Eastgate Theatre box office, by phone on 01721 752777 or online at mail@eastgatearts.com
