TWO poets, Philip Hutton and Anita John, will perform together at the Eastgate Studio on Tuesday with saxophone interludes by Colin Hall.

Anita, a translator to trade, started writing poems in 2000 and was a founder of the Pentland Writers Circle.

Philip, an artist and art teacher, started writing also in 2000, and joined the Peebles Writers Group.

More than just reading their work, the poets will discuss their themes, the people and places that inspire them, and the point of writing reading and being read.

They will exchange ideas and stories, and respond to participation from the audience.

Both are accomplished readers as well as ready with quick-witted response, so it will be a lively evening.

Both have also published books, Anita John’s collection Child’s Eye and Philip Hutton’s collections This If Anything and These are They, That’s Them, which will be for sale on the evening.

This is the sixth annual poetry event initiated by Philip Hutton, in previous years held in the Cringletie Hotel but now in the Eastgate, supported by the Peebles Arts Festival, now Creative Peebles.

Next Tuesday's poetry and sax evening takes place between 7pm and 9pm.
