Real-life father and son Edward and Freddie Fox will play a fictional father and son in a new production of Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband.

Taboo star Edward will play the Earl of Caversham while Freddie will play Lord Goring in the play at the Vaudeville Theatre, directed by Jonathan Church.

The duo will star opposite Frances Barber as Mrs Cheveley.

The show is being staged by Classic Spring, a new theatre company from Dominic Dromgoole, a former artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe.

The company is staging a year-long celebration of Wilde at the Vaudeville Theatre, including runs of all four of his major plays.

The next production will be a new folk opera of The Selfish Giant by Guy Chambers.

An Ideal Husband will play at the Vaudeville Theatre from April 20 to July 14, before opening the Theatre Royal Bath summer season on July 18 until August 4.
