SOME 30 youngsters from West Linton Cub Scouts enjoyed hours of beach time at Canty Bay near North Berwick.

Rock-pooling, sandcastle building, paddling in the sea, bird and sea-life spotting and many other pleasures of the seaside were thoroughly enjoyed by all the boys. An evening campfire on the beach for the mandatory Cub camp marshmallow toasting was a great highlight. The boys were roused early in the morning for a boot-camp on the beach session, ensuring everyone was well awake before devouring a hearty outdoor breakfast.

At the conclusion of the weekend three new Cubs were invested into the West Linton Cub Scouts: Connor McCaffrey, Hamish Weipers and Murdo Dykes, this ceremony taking place with the iconic Bass Rock as the backdrop. Congratulations boys!

Scouting in West Linton continues to go from strength to strength in the younger Beaver and Cub sections. However, the Scout Troop has been unable to re-start after the summer since the retiral of the previous Scout Leaders.

There are two very willing and committed Assistant Scout Leaders – but the missing piece of the jigsaw is a figurehead to head up the Scout Troop in West Linton. Full training and support provided from the rest of the team as well as the wider West Linton Scout Group. Interested? Contact Mat Wood by emailing: westlintonscoutgroup@gmail.com
