DETAILED plans for converting the iconic Veitch’s Corner into a coffee shop have been unveiled.
Agents for Costa Coffee have submitted a Listed Building Consent application for internal alterations to former the High Street store as well as the introduction of new external signs.
The Veitch’s Corner building, which is now owned by Edinburgh-based AKL Portfolio Ltd, has been empty since 2006.
Permission was granted in November by Scottish Borders Council for a change of use from Class 1 retail to Class 3 restaurant.
Costa Coffee plan to locate seats and sofas to cater for up to 78 people.
The plans will see a counter and serving area located at the front of the store with toilets and offices positioned on the first floor.
The Listed Building Consent application will be considered by the local authority over the coming weeks.
