On Friday the 30th of October we will be bringing the ‘Grindhouse Experience’ of 42nd Street to Carlops in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support with – Carlops Night of Horror, a horror film night!

In April 2016 my wife will be trekking parts of The Great Wall of China in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support and in memory of her late father.

Our October event will raise funds to help my wife reach her fundraising target, but also offers a macabre and ‘gimmick-laden’ horror experience with the audience getting to choose between six films on offer.

Lionsgate Films have kindly granted us permission to screen one of their titles, so a patron will buy their ticket, vote for their preferred film and wait until the night itself to find out the overall winner.

In addition there will be a ‘Toxic Barrel Lucky Dip’ with the contents donated by HMV Edinburgh West End, a raffle with prizes donated from Fopp Edinburgh, Shameless Screen Entertainment and legendary British horror studio ‘Hammer’ (in addition, I am a relative of the late Robert Urquhart, star of Hammer’s first horror film – 1957’s The Curse of Frankenstein), and a ‘Guess the Weight of the Headless Corpse’... with all proceeds from the event going to MacMillan Cancer Support.

I know this is more of a ‘what’s on’ listing, but I felt given the ‘niche-ness’ of the event (and how it has never been done... certainly in Carlops... before), that it may be of local press interest.

We have launched a social media publicity campaign with ‘old trailer’-style videos to whet appetites, but we are hoping it will be a fun and well attended event (and perhaps the start of more)... the links to our teaser and launch trailers on Vimeo are: https://vimeo.com/137846754 https://vimeo.com/138996298 Thanks for your time and consideration!
