FOUR horse-drawn fire trucks from the early 1900s are just some of the gems on display at a new exhibition documenting 75 years of rural fire-fighting.

Biggar Museum Trust launched their 'Fire! Fire!' exhibit last week which showcases vintage fire-fighting apparatus, four old horse-drawn fire-engines, uniforms, photos, video footage, and archives from the local Fire Brigade to show how it has evolved through the years.

The story of Biggar's fire service over the last 75 years is an interesting one - from its crucial presence during the war years to the modern day.

And, to celebrate the launch of the exhibition, the public were treated to a procession of modern and vintage fire engines led by a pipe band, as well as a special guest appearance from Fireman Sam and Blaze Bear.

The High Street was flooded with crowds and kids were thrilled to be invited inside the trucks and try on old uniforms and helmets.

The exhibition is around for a limited time only - you have until the end of August to experience this unique display of live-saving history.

Admission is £5 for adults, £4 concession, and £2 for children. £12 for a family.
