A FURTHER tonne of daffodils has been added to Peeblesshire's dazzling daffodil display by local businessman John Campbell.

The synonymous spring blooms have been lining the rural roads around Peeblesshire for years.

And Mr Campbell, with support from the Marie Curie charity, have continued to add to the spectacular show with a further tonne of planted bulbs each year.

The yellow blooms now stretch on either side of the local carriageways for more than 12 miles.

Mr Campbell told the Peeblesshire News: "In association with Marie Curie we will continue to plant the bulbs and continue to add to this beautiful display of daffodils.

"Marie Curie is such a wonderful and important charity and we are delighted to be doing something for them."

The daffodil is the official emblem of Marie Curie, who provide care and support for people living with terminal illness, and their families.

Last year the charity cared for over 40,000 people across the UK.

The roadside displays stretch along the main Edinburgh and Glasgow roads from Peebles as well as other routes around West Linton and Stobo.

Collection boxes for Marie Curie are placed in several lay-bys.

And Glenrath Farms match every penny which is raised over the coming weeks.

Last year a total of £1052.86 was handed over to the charity.

Mr Campbell added: "We hope our 12 miles of daffodils will make people smile and donate to Marie Curie to help brighten lives.

"We’ve got charity boxes situated at strategic places along the roads and we are committed to doubling any donations that are gratefully received."
