PUPILS at Broughton Primary took part in a Race for Life event and raised over £1600 for Cancer Research.

On their lunch hour, over 30 p4-7s ran, jogged, and walked a 3km course within the school grounds for the worthy cause.

Running club coach Hazel Foss, who organised the event, said: "The kids were amazing and completed the whole course. Their fantastic efforts have raised £1690.43 so far.

"Even though we are a small village, many of us have been affected in some way by this awful disease so decided to organise our own Race for Life.

"Over 30 kids regularly attend the Wednesday running club and come out in all weathers! They have improved so much over the last year. We had 28 of them compete at the recent 3 Bridges race which for such a small school was fantastic.

"Our justgiving page is still active and would love if we could get to the £2000 mark."
