A TWO-CAR smash on the A1 brought traffic to a standstill this afternoon.
The incident happened around 4.10pm on the northbound carriageway as it approached Old Craighall sliproad.
Police said both vehicles were so badly damaged they were unable to be driven off the road.
Astonishingly neither driver suffered serious injury and no medical attention was required at the scene.
Police Scotland said officers were called to the scene and checked the drivers.
The vehicles are now waiting to be removed from the dual carriageway.
