EVERYONE in Peebles will be out and about this week enjoying the many aspects of the Beltane Festival.

But, in case you wanted to get a sneak peak of what goes on behind the scenes of all the processions and parades, it will be televised on ITV tonight - so set you TVs to record if you don't want to miss the fancy dress fun!

'Border Life' approached the Beltane Committee some time back wishing to document the making of the historic festival.

And camera crews descended on Peebles last week to capture a glimpse of all the hard work that goes into such an event.

They filmed the Cornet practicing to ride his horse with the Standard in hand, covered the training of the Queen and her Court for the crowning, as well as the making of the costumes.

And, they were also down at the Beltane Hut filming the committee preparing the landau - the Queen's carriage - for its grand procession, as well as the painting and sprucing of the lorries in preparation for the parade.

Beltane committee member John Falla said: "What a great thing for Peebles that the Beltane will be on the TV for the rest of the Borders towns to see. It'll get word around about what a fantastic festival we have.

"The unique thing about the Beltane is perhaps how much the kids of the town are involved; as well as the there are over 400 kids transported in fancy dress on Saturday, so it's great fun for them."

Border Life will broadcast their Beltane coverage tonight, at 8pm, on ITV Border.
