PLANS have been unveiled for the repairs at Peebles Nursing Home, closed since December following severe flooding.
The 24 elderly residents of the Tweed Green home had to be evacuated when Storm Frank hit the town, and have since been re-housed twice – firstly in Waverley Care Home in Galashiels, and then moved to their semi-permanent home in Craw Wood, Tweedbank.
The plan was that the residents would be back in Peebles by June, but their return date has been pushed back while extensive renovation work continues.
Mansfield Care Ltd has now applied for planning permission to Scottish Borders Council to re-instate the original height of the front wall to give the building protection.
It also wants to take down and replace the existing conservatory and garden room which suffered severe structural damage after being ravaged by flood water.
The plans also include alterations and an extension to the building to form additional ground floor bedrooms and laundry.
Mansfield Care has also stated it intends to increase staff from 12 to 14 to take the extension plans into account.
