IT WAS a night of reunions at the Indodrill Stadium as Alloa Athletic fought out a 1-1 draw with SPFL Premiership outfit Dundee.

Paul Hartley returned to face the Wasps with two familiar faces in tow with club legend Scott Bain in goal and last season’s player of the year Michael Duffy now making his debut in Dundee colours.

Dundee started brightly as Loy latched onto a through pass, but the former Falkirk man could only blast wide of the mark.

The hosts created their first chance themselves minutes later when Jim Goodwin found Jordan Kirkpatrick on the edge of the area, but the effort was just over the top.

There was no room for sentiment soon after as it was none other than Duffy, who gave his new side the lead on ten minutes.

Duffy collected the ball on the edge of the area from Rory Loy, then nutmegged Andy Graham before slotting confidently beyond a helpless Neil Parry.

The Wasps might have been down to ten in a competitive match, but Goodwin’s mistimed challenge on Kevin O’Hara went unpunished from the referee.

Alloa responded well and levelled the match from a well worked set piece on 20 minutes. Jordan Kirkpatrick’s flighted ball was met by Jim Goodwin who rose at the back post to bullet the ball beyond Scott Bain with the header.

Duffy continued to be the main threat for Paul Hartley’s men and he created space for another shot on goal on the half hour mark, but this time it was straight at Parry.

There was a bit of comic relief on 36 minutes when Goodwin’s attempted tackle on O’Hara saw him cannon into referee Craig Charleston who crashed to the floor much to the delight of the crowd.

The final chance of the half fell for the hosts as some great inter-play between Graeme Holmes and Kirkpatrick sent Cawley racing in on goal, but Cameron Kerr got back to make a vital challenge.

Iain Flannigan was a half time replacement for Kirkpatrick and he was soon involved in the first chance of the second half.

Cawley did well with a marauding run towards the box, but he was hacked down by Darren O’Dea right on the edge of the area. Flannigan took the kick, but saw his effort blocked as he tried to go underneath the wall with the effort.

Dundee were almost gifted the lead soon after when Goodwin’s attempted back pass sent Duffy racing in on Parry, but the big keeper did well to smother the shot.

Experienced defender Darren O’Dea could have seen red on 55 minutes when he threw Layne to the ground off the ball in a tantrum, but similar to the Goodwin in the first half, the referee just gave him a talking to.

The game went into friendly mode soon after tempo wise with a number of changes from both sides.

Both sides had chances in the closing stages as Layne and substitute Lewis Baker went close from range for Alloa, Gary Harkins saw a long range effort saved by Parry, before Graham blocked a certain goal from Teijsse.

The game ended in a stalemate, however, and it will be the Wasps who will take the plaudits from this one for never giving the Premiership side a minutes rest all night.
