A MELROSE pensioner has admitted attacking a neighbour's door with a crowbar.
Leonard Holobyn, who had been drinking at the time, took offence after being told to turn down his music.
The 65-year-old appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court this week.
Procurator fiscal Graham Fraser said after words were exchanged the neighbour telephoned the police to complain.
But shortly afterwards at around 10pm on Thursday, April 28, Holobyn went upstairs in the Eildon Crescent flats and attacked the neighbour's door with a crow bar making a large gouge in the wooden panel and dents in the aluminium letter box.
During a police interview Holobyn said: "I went a little crazy. I used a crowbar against his door."
Defence lawyer Mat Patrick said his client regretted the incident and added: "In his own words, he says he is getting too old for this sort of thing now."
Sheriff Peter Paterson imposed a £200 fine and ordered Holobyn to pay £100 compensation to his upstairs neighbour.
