A MOTORBIKE fanatic is the latest recruit for an expanding Peebles legal firm.

Road Traffic Accident Law Scotland has recruited Sean Maher into, what he describes as, his perfect job.

The 44-year-old former buildings surveyor, who switched professional careers in 2011, has been appointed trainee solicitor with the company, which operates motorcycle, cycle and pedestrian specialist legal services.

Sean, who is an army reservist, moved into law out of an ambition to help people through difficult circumstances.

And as a high mileage motorcyclist he brings an unrivalled depth of knowledge of travelling on Scotland’s roads.

Sean, who gained his law degree and post grad diploma at Strathclyde University, told the Peeblesshire News: “I am passionate about my new career and I’m passionate about motorcycles, so this is the perfect job.

"A motorbike is not a plaything.

"It is less stressful than driving a car and a far more social experience.

"I understand how a motorcyclist rides on the roads and in different scenarios and can analyse this from an advanced riding perspective."

Sean holds a RoSPA advanced motorcycling certificate and is an accredited RoSPA group tutor.

He is also a qualified British Triathlon Federation Motorcycle Technical Official, with extensive experience refereeing the cycling phase of triathlon events.

His level of analysis and understanding of claims is recognised by the firm’s founder, Brenda Mitchell.

She said: “Sean’s life experience will be a tremendous asset to the firm.

"A man who has been on operational duty in Afghanistan and has pursued his love of bikes to an ever more expert level is the kind of calm head and steady hand that reassures clients going through some pretty life-changing times.

“As a specialist firm, it is important to us and our clients that we are motorcyclists and cyclists ourselves and we welcome Sean to the team.”

Road Traffic Accident Law Scotland, which was set up in 2013, also recently recruited Marina Urie as a Senior Solicitor specialising in motorcycle and cycling accident law, Andrew Ward as an administrator and Fiona Richardson as an Executive Assistant to Brenda Mitchell.
