TOURISTS had their Scottish cycling holiday ruined when they discovered their bikes were stolen from the Peebles caravan park they were visiting. 

Police updated us that the two mountain bikes were worth over £9,000, and were taken from Rosetta Road Caravan Park sometime between 9.30pm on Sunday August 21 and 9.30am on Monday, August 22. 

The bikes had been chained to a tree near to the owner’s camper van. 

In the morning it was discovered that the bikes had been taken along with chains that had been used to secure them.

Police are now investigating the theft and are appealing to the public for information.

The first bike is described as a 2015 model Scott Genius Adult male mountain bike. 

It is black with green writing/highlights.

It has 22 gears, a specialised saddlebag, suspension on the front and rear of the bike; click pedals and an adjustable saddle.

It has an estimated value of £6000.

The second bike is described as a 2016 model specialised ladies mountain bike. 

It is black with pink writing/highlights and had a green wristband attached to the right handle bar. 

It has 20 gears, a specialist saddlebag, adjustable seat and a black water bottle in a frame. 

It has an estimated value of £3000.

Inspector Carol Wood said:  “The owners of the bikes are tourists, who were undertaking a cycling holiday in Scotland, and they have been left extremely distressed by this theft.

“We are eager to recover the bikes and trace those responsible as soon as possible.  Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to contact us immediately.”
