KELSO broke all kinds of records on Saturday as they signed off their first campaign in the East of Scotland Championship.

Mason Hughes posted 140 not out and Tom Grindell reached 111 as the Tweedsiders romped to a 286 run victory over Holy Cross.

Kelso's innings of 370 for 2 from their 50 overs is amongst their biggest scores in recent history.

The comfortable victory leaves Kelso in seventh.

Gala failed to win their final match at Murrayfield but results elsewhere – namely Linlithgow beating Musselburgh – means the Braw Lads have sneaked the second promotion place from Division One, and will join Kelso next season.

Gala's poor performance, which saw them make only 36 runs from their innings was quickly forgotten.

St Boswells already knew their fate ahead of their match with SMRH and will be dropping down to the third division next season.

A minute's silence was observed at Selkirk for the sudden death last week of George 'Spadger' Reid – but the Souters couldn't get the required win over Haddington to reach the promotion place in Division Three.

Kenny Paterson's 22 was the highlight of the home innings which reached 98.

The seven wicket defeat leaves Selkirk in third.

It was extremely tight in Division Five but Hawick and Wilton's seven wicket win over Edinburgh AC was enough for the Teries to squeeze into the top two on the final day.

Hawick contained the hosts to just 82 - a total they reached for the loss of only three wickets.

Peebles County enjoyed a 172 run victory over Murrayfield thirds with Darren Chatt hitting 89, but it wasn't enough to take them up from a close fourth into the top two.

Melrose suffered a rare defeat in Division Six at Inverleith against SMRH but they still held onto the top spot by the narrowest margins from Dunbar in Division Six to be crowned champions.

Melrose will now join Peebles in next season's Division Five.
