A MAJOR crackdown on drug dealing in the Borders has seen a hike in arrests so far this year.

Between April and June police made 17 arrests - up from 12 the previous year.

And the region's top officer confirmed the raids will continue until they've won the battle against the dealers.

Chief inspector Andy McLean said: "There has been a lot of work done to tackle the drug supply into the Scottish Borders.

"We've been going through a lot of doors lately.

"We get a lot of drugs intelligence through Crimestoppers and from the public."
