A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged after police recovered a quantity of class B drugs from a house in Peebles.

Acting on intelligence gathered from the public, local officers executed a warrant at an address in Kingsmuir Crescent on Monday.

A search resulted in the discovery of a quantity of cannabis with an estimated street value of £500 as well as a three-figure sum of money.

Officers arrested the male for various offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act and he has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Community Inspector Tony Hodges told the Peeblesshire News: “This latest recovery should send a clear message that organised crime and anyone involved in this criminal activity, will not be tolerated.

“Police Scotland is committed to arresting anyone concerned in the supply of illegal drugs and ensuring that they are swiftly brought before the courts.

“I can reassure the public that we treat all reports of drug activity with the utmost seriousness. All information passed to the police will be acted upon appropriately and investigated robustly.”
