A PEEBLES-BASED artist has been putting her skills to the test after she was selected to take part in the Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the year competition.

Moy Mackay, who has a gallery in Northgate, Peebles, has been filming for the show which sees the winner bag £10,000 commission for the National Trust’s art collection and £500 of art materials from Cass Art.

Filming took place during the summer and Moy says it was a “wonderful experience”.

She added: “I’m delighted to finally be able to share this exciting news.
“Over the summer I had the privilege of being part of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2016, which also happens to be my favourite show on TV. It was a wonderful experience.”

The new series of Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year begins on October 11 at 8pm, where artists will battle it out to scoop the top prize.

Meanwhile, Moy is set to show her skills this weekend in Selkirk at St Mary’s Mill, where she will demonstrate the felting techniques she uses in her paintings.

She will also feature alongside other artists, in the former working textile mill, and will give a talk to visitors.

That event will take place at 1pm on Saturday and Sunday.
