EDINBURGH Fringe sell-out show ‘The Unknown Soldier’ is coming to the Borders as part of its national tour.

The play, which will take place at the Caddonfoot Hall, take the audience back to 1914 and is a thought-provoking solo piece which looks at World War I from a different perspective.

It tells the story through the eyes of a man who has survived the carnage but remains, to help build the great cemeteries.

It is a tale of deep friendship that can only be found between those who fight together, of the betrayal felt by them at the end of the war, and of a world that has changed so much it has become unrecognisable.

The production has been listed in the top 50 shows at this year’s Fringe, an accolade writer and performer Ross Ericson is proud of. He said: “I knew we had a good production but I never dreamt that we would see such critical acclaim and sell out virtually every night over 25 performances – especially at the Edinburgh Fringe where competition is so fierce.”

Ericson uses his military experience and family stories to give this piece an authentic voice and, as he is performing it himself, it feels like a real and personal piece.

It is aimed to be as moving as his play Casualties, for which he was nominated for an Off West End Award.

The event will take place at the Caddonfoot Hall on Wednesday, November 9 and will start at 8pm.

The production will last 70 minutes and tickets will cost £10, from the Clovenfords shop.
