A YOUNG actress from West Linton has been strutting her stuff with some of the biggest names in showbiz.

Zoe Davidson, who is 12 years old, is currently appearing alongside the likes of Jason Manford, Phill Jupitus and Claire Sweeney after landing a role in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Zoe has already appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre this year, but now she is appearing at Glasgow’s Kings Theatre with the production.
She is one of 32 children who have been chosen to play the “sewer kids” and is appearing in the six shows this month.

Proud dad Tommy told the Peeblesshire News: “She’s done brilliantly. Everyone is really proud, especially her Nan and Grandad who have been to see her. She did eight shows in Edinburgh over the two weeks and now she’s in Glasgow.

“She told me at three years of age she wanted to be a famous dancer and I asked her again at 10 and nothing has changed.

“She is at stage school every Saturday in Edinburgh and musical theatre is her passion.

“Jason Manford and the cast have been brilliant with them. They make the kids feel at ease and have a laugh and a joke with them.”

Zoe had appeared with friends Doone Jeary and Megan McCaffrey in Oliver at Edinburgh’s Playhouse Theatre in July, but unfortunately they weren’t able to be selected due to a height restriction.

Tommy added: “The kids are aged between nine and 12, so Zoe is one of the oldest there.

“We also have to say thank you to Pebbles High School for being so accommodating. I spoke to the headteacher about the situation and told him that Zoe would be performing and he was great with it. He allowed her time off to do the shows, which we’re grateful for.”
