POLICE are urging Borderers to be vigilant after a spate of housebreakings.
On Wednesday car keys were stolen from a property in Peebles and a Hyundai I30, with the registration number ET59BVU was taken.
In Selkirk, sometime between October 12 and October 19, a house was also broken into and numerous items including £3000 cash were stolen.
And in Stow, overnight on October 19, a Honda petrol lawnmower was stolen from a garden shed along with a Mitox petrol Chainsaw and Ryobi petrol strimmer.
An unlocked garage was also entered and a McCullough chainsaw was stolen.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Ensure that your house doors and windows are locked at all times and do not leave vehicle keys near to your front door.
"Try not to leave high value items such as laptops, tablets, cameras etc. on open display.
"Always lock your vehicles, even if only leaving them for a short time and never leave keys in the vehicle.
"Secure garages and garden sheds with good quality locks and consider fitting an alarm.
