WALKING the boundaries of Peeblesshire and Selkirkshire is an unusual challenge - but that is just what Edward Hex is doing at present.

Edward has decided to do the walk to raise money for The Royal Hospitals for Sick Children in Edinburgh and Glasgow and alsi for the charity Cystic Fibrosis, as Edward knows a young lady who is a sufferer.

This walk is about 200 miles over hills and through forests.

Edward treats hs walks as holidays as he has now enjoyed six walks in six years.

So far he has walked the country boundaries of Stewatry, Wigtownshire, Dumfriesshire, Ayrshire, Renfrewshire Clackmannan, Kinross and Bute.

He has so far covered 1,200 miles and raised £3,000 for a wide variety of charities.

But this year Edward is hoping to break the £1,000 barrier.

At the start of September he took part in and came fifth in the Lang Supreme Triathalon which is held in Crossmichael.

Edward insists that while other runners were training for this triathalon, he was training for this charity run only.

So far he has only taken a fellow walker with him twice, the first person lasted 60 miles and the second 172 miles.

But Edward always has his trusty fox puppet, Loxxey, with him and they have gone through all the disasters such as the time his tent blew away.

With the boundaries being remote areas, Edward will need a tent, but on previous occasions farmers have let Edward stay in their barns.

Food will also be taken by Edward, this adding to the weight of his pack which can weigh up to 50lb.

Edward is hoping to be able to go into several pubs when he drops down off the summits and take his collection can with him - which he feels is the quickest, easiest and best way of raising money.
