A SCOTTISH Borders Housing Association employee has scooped a top award for helping tenants.

Alison Notman, who has worked for the organisation for 10 years, picked up the Tenant Participation Champion of the Year award, in an ceremony last Saturday.

Over the last decade she has held workshops, pop-up shops, carried out door-to-door visits and has worked with senior members of staff to ensure that her tenants' voices are heard.

A delighted Alison told us: "I’m thrilled to have received this recognition, but this award reflects the efforts of a lot of people.

"I work with an enthusiastic group of Tenants, and it’s great to be able to help them channel that."

Alison has also championed the campaign for SBHA to be out and about in the Borders, giving residents the opportunity to speak with staff, whether on a walk around their estate, at a community event or over the phone.

Julia Mulloy, Chief Executive of the SBHA added: "We are delighted that Alison has won this award, which is fitting recognition of her years of hard work.

"SBHA is committed to tenant involvement. Tenants play a key role in our decision making, and Alison’s work with and support of SBTO (Scottish Borders Tenants Organisation) has been absolutely vital to this."
