THE changing face of Galashiels has been captured by photographer Sheila Scott for a new book, Galashiels History Tour.

Mrs Scott, who has been a professional photographer for more than 30 years, has compiled a fascinating study into the evolution of her home town.

More than 50 photographs have been carefully brought together to trace the many ways in which Galashiels has changed over the last century.

Released last month by Amberley Publishing, Galashiels History Tour, is a delightful reminder of the town and its customs.

Philip Dean from Amberley Publishing told the Border Telegraph: "Galashiels History Tour is a unique insight into the illustrious history of this famous Borders textile town.

"This new book guides us through the streets and alleyways, showing how its famous landmarks used to look and how they've changed over the years as well as exploring its lesser-known sights and hidden corners.

"With the help of a handy location map, readers are invited to follow a timeline of events and discover for themselves the changing face of Gala."

The 96-page book is available from Amberley Publish in paperback with Kindle, Kobo and iBook formats also available.
