A PEEBLES community group have leapt to the finishing line after putting the last touches towards a statue to celebrate the achievements of a local Olympic showjumper.

The team from Bonnie Peebles were out in force on Thursday, March 9 to dig up the surrounding grass to create a border around the Scott Brash sculpture, located just off the Edinburgh Road.

Avril Murray from Bonnie Peebles told the Peeblesshire News: "We are delighted with the response we have had to the sculpture and hope that this gives it the finishing touch. There are still some plants to be put in on the banking behind the sculpture which will be done in due course.

"Many thanks to Douglas White, John Falla, Stuart Wightman, Jim Murray and Andrew Williamson for landscaping and kindly cutting the concrete edging for us."

The sculpture was unveiled in a ceremony on December 23 last year by Scott Brash.
