EAST Kilbride claimed the Lowland League title after firing hosts Gala Fairydean Rovers for six at Netherdale.

Joao Victoria scored a hat-trick as Kilby claimed their place in the pyramid play-offs with a 6-1 victory.

Paul Woods also netted twice during the rout and Craig Howie was also on target.

Manager Martin Lauchlin said: “We have been nervous during the last few games but we showed today why we deserve to be champions.

“We have been the most consistent side in a very difficult league.”

Darren Smith scored Gala’s consolation.

Runners-up East Stirlingshire condemned Preston Athletic to relegation with a 7-1 drubbing at the Pennypit.

David Grant and Andy Rodgers both scored hat-tricks for Shire with Connor Greene also netting.

Jason Young scored for Preston, who had Scott Barclay red carded after half an hour.

Whitehill Welfare scored four goals in nine minutes as they came from behind to beat Selkirk.

Daryl Healy grabbed a double after the break with Michael Osbourne and Connor Brydon also scoring during the Selkirk collapse.

Jordan Hopkinson and Gary Nicholson were the home team’s scorers.

Selkirk boss Ian Fergus admitted: “I’ve never experienced anything like that. To lose four goals inside ten minutes is terrible and shows what happens when you switch off in this league.”
