THE latest police report for Innerleithen covering the period from Saturday, March 3 to Saturday, April 1, has revealed a total of 49 callouts to the area.

The report also revealed on Friday, March 24, while carrying out a routine road check, officers stopped a vehicle and spoke with the driver.

During this time they detected a strong smell of Cannabis coming from within the vehicle.

The driver and passenger were both searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act and were found to be in possession of personal quantities of herbal cannabis. Both were issued with recorded Police warnings.

On Monday, March 6, police received a report regarding youths within the derelict Carelee Mill, Damside, Innerleithen, causing vandalism. Officers attended with no trace of youths, the owners were advised regarding security measures being put in place. 

On Friday, March 24, a report was received regarding a hit and run vehicle accident that had occurred within the Co-op car park in Innerleithen. The driver was traced, cautioned and charged with failing to stop and report. 

On Friday, March 31, police received a report regarding an aggressive neighbour. The neighbour subsequently detained, interviewed, cautioned and charged with Breach of The Peace.

The report issued a fresh reminder for residents to be careful when posting items on social media sites for sale/purchase and identifying items of high value, such as Mountain Bikes.

When buying and selling online, residents have also been warned not to identify home addresses and vehicles through information and photographs.
