Seventy-two-year-old John Foster is charged with causing a collision between two vehicles on the A72 road at Horsbrugh Ford near Peebles on June 4.
As a result of the accident Robert Kerr from Glasgow died in hospital from his injuries while the driver was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh to be treated for neck and back injuries.
The 42-year-old driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and was released from Borders General Hospital soon after.

He was released on bail by Sheriff Peter Paterson.
