A BIGGAR couple are each about to embark on a tough challenge, to raise money for Macmillan cancer support.
Bruce Morgan, who runs Brownlies convenience store in High Street, will take on the Edinburgh marathon, while wife Donna and five employees will abseil from the Forth Road Bridge on the same day.
Bruce, 49, is no stranger to tackling tough events for charity after raising almost £2,500 by running 1,000 miles in 2016.
And now Donna, 47, is facing her fears along with friends Heather, Hannah, Emma, Ashley and Amy for the cause.
She told the Peeblesshire News: “On May 28 Bruce has decided to do the Edinburgh marathon, so me and five others from the shop said we will abseil from the Forth Road Bridge. To be honest, I am beginning to regret what I have signed myself up for.
“We all signed up to do it and I don’t think anybody actually realised how tough it will be. The youngest girls are in their 20s and we have got people doing it in their 40s.
“I was looking on the South Queensferry Rotary Club’s website the other day and as I say, I don’t know what we’ve signed up for.
“Since we have had the shop we have always supported charities and we picked Macmillan, because we have all been affected by cancer in some way.
“We are hoping to raise £1,000 and we have got over £100 so far.”
