A TWEEDDALE Councillor has reflected on a decade in office at his final community council meeting in the role.

Councillor Gavin Logan, who is not standing for re-election, looked back at his decade of attending Innerleithen and District Community Council meetings, starting with his first visit as a prospective candidate in 2006.

At the meeting held on Monday, May 1, Gavin discussed the many topics covered over the years, many of which are still raised today including; dog mess, potholes, talk of budgetary pressures and priorities.

The biggest differences Mr Logan had seen were the development of the gap site, a key talking point for many years at Innerleithen Community Council, plus the increase of interest in, and provision for, mountain biking, particularly above the golf course on a network of trails.

Speaking at the meeting, Gavin said: "There is so much potential for tourism. It is the future for the area, especially for mountain biking. Plus, we have a fantastic community spirit in Innerleithen, and this should be highlighted."

Marshall Douglas, chairman of the meeting said: "On behalf of Innerleithen and District Community Council, I'd like to thank Gavin for his sterling service and for his positivity throughout. You'll be sadly missed."
