A CAFE in Innerleithen has been commended for setting up a fundraising page following the theft of a charity box.
No. 1 Peebles Road Cafe, on Innerleithen High Street launched the online donation page after the shop's charity box was stolen in a break-in last month.
The box was raising funds to help the people of Thondwe build a cafe to support families of children in sending their children to secondary school.
Marshall Douglas from Innerleithen Community Council said: "With £305 raised through this page so far, out of an ambitious £4,000 target, there is scope for the whole community to get behind this initiative which is part of a wider link with this community in Malawi."
