SIX teams from Chirnside, Kelso Edenside, Langholm, Melrose, Peebles Priorsford and Yarrow Primary Schools faced eight rounds of five searching questions in the Borders area final of the District 1020 Rotary Primary School Quiz at Selkirk High School recently.
The first two teams from this quiz progress to the district final at Carluke.
This will see teams of four children from throughout the south-east of Scotland in an area bounded by Newton Stewart, Kilsyth, Grangemouth round to Eyemouth and the Borders.
From the first few rounds it was clearly going to be a tight contest, perhaps even having to go to a tie break round, but gradually Priorsford Primary edged ahead to win with 36 points, 2½ points clear of runners up Melrose.
Priorsford are no strangers to this competition having reached the final four years ago, so they will have to ‘Fecht Weel’ at Carluke on June 3.
Unfortunately, this is the day of the PTA Summer Fair, but there are hopes that the children will be only too keen to represent the school at the District 1020 Final of the Primary School Quiz.
