SECRETARY of State for Scotland David Mundell has expressed his horror at the attacks in Manchester.

Mr Mundell added that the suspension of election campaigning today (May 23) is 'only right' in light of the events.

The attack occured at around 10.30pm on Monday night (May 22) in the foyer area at Manchester Arena.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack, in which 22 people have died and at least 59 injured.

Commenting David Mundell said: "This was an absolutely appalling incident in Manchester and my thoughts and prayers right now are with those who have had family and friends killed and injured.

"I'd also like to praise the emergency services for their wonderful response to the incident and to others who helped those affected.

"It should be said that these attacks only resolve our strength to ensure that terrorists will never be allowed to win."
