A YOUTH theatre group is delving through history in its latest production at Walkerburn.
Directed by John Haswell, the founder of the Borders Youth Theatre,
‘Delving Deep’ will explore the local poetry and letters written at the time of the First World War.
The play, which takes place at the village hall, will delve into the past to give a contemporary response and interpretation to these writings and will look at the emotional impact of war on the lives of young people, both then and now.
The performance piece will cover loss, grief and shattered dreams about war, a subject which is still relevant today as it was 100 years ago.
Sara Best, production coordinator from the Borders Youth Theatre said: “Our summer show Delving Deep is inspired by the World War One poetry and explores young people’s emotional response to war.
“In addition to our performance at Walkerburn, the group will perform at the Melrose Corn Exchange at 7pm on July 21, and at Jedburgh Town Hall at 2.30pm and 7pm on July 22.”
The group will perform at the Walkerburn Village Hall at 7pm on Friday, July 21.
Tickets can be booked by emailing Sara: bytprojectscoord@gmail.com or on the door. Admission for adults is £7 and £5 for concession.
