POLICE are asking residents across the Borders to be vigilant after reports of counterfeit notes in circulation.
A statement by Police Scotland said: "There are a group of males travelling throughout the Scottish Borders passing fake £50 Bank of Ulster notes, the males in question may have an Irish accent.
"The males have already passed notes in Peebles and Lauder. There may be two males acting together, one aged late twenties and one aged in his fifties."
Anyone with information relating to these offences should contact Police Scotland on 101.
