A TWEEDDALE bar has scooped a top prize at a ceremony in Glasgow.
The Clovenfords Hotel, in Vine Street, landed the Diageo Social Responsibility and Community Award at the Scottish Bar and Pub Awards 2017.
The team was given the award after opening a village shop within the pub.
The opening has filled a void for locals after the previous village shop, located across the street, closed its doors at the end of January.
Owner Roy McIntosh said: “I’m delighted to have been nominated, let alone win.
“Myself and my wife Theresa and family have lived in the village now for two and a half years and class this as our home now, not just a business.
“We want to support the village as much as possible.”
The award was one of 20 up for grabs for the nominated watering holes across Scotland on the night.
Established 22 years ago, the awards are the longest-running honours for the Scottish licensed trade.
