NHS Borders is reminding patients to plan ahead, ahead of the upcoming public holiday.
On Monday (October 9), all health centres and GP practices across Tweeddale will be closed, with the exception of West Linton medical practice.
And the health board is asking locals to make sure they know where they need to turn, if they need to access treatment.
A spokesperson told the Peeblesshire News: "The Emergency Department at Borders General Hospital and the Out of Hours service often receive unusually high numbers of patient contacts on public holidays.
"By remembering when the next public holiday is, planning ahead and knowing who to turn to if you need medical attention, you can help us save the Emergency Department for emergencies.
"If you or someone you care for is unwell and can’t wait until your GP surgery re-opens, contact the NHS 24 helpline on 111. If the condition is immediately life threatening, dial 999 for an emergency ambulance.
"If you or someone you care for requires medicines regularly, make sure you order and collect repeat prescriptions in good time to ensure you have enough medicine to last over the holiday weekend.
"Some community pharmacies will be open for a limited time on Monday."
In Peebles, Lloyds Pharmacy will be open from 9am-5.30pm; along with Boots Pharmacy from 9am-6pm.
The West Linton pharmacy will also be open from 9am-1pm and again from 2pm-6pm.
