RESIDENTS in three Tweeddale communities will be without water for five hours next week.

People living in Cardrona, Innerleithen and Walkerburn will have their supply cut off from 11.30pm on Wednesday (October 18), until 4.30 the following morning, while a section of water mains pipe is replaced.

Scott Fraser, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs regional manager, said: “The shut off will affect customers in postcode areas EH43, EH44, and EH45.

"We are asking customers not to use water during this time.

"This includes hot and cold taps, toilet flushing and appliances such as washing machines.

“Please help us by storing enough water in containers for drinking, washing and flushing the toilet.

"When your supply comes back on it may be cloudy, discoloured or contain sediment.

"If this happens please let the cold tap in the kitchen run slowly until the water runs clear.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience and thank customers in advance for their patience and understanding.”
