A FORMER Galashiels policeman has died after a crash near Cornhill on Tweed.
Motorcycle rider and retired police officer Ian Bell Whillans, 60, was killed while travelling north towards Cornhill on Tweed, after colliding with a Mercedes car travelling south.
The collision occurred at around 2pm on Wednesday, October 11, at Westfield, approximately one and half miles south of the A697/A698 roundabout at Gose Law.
The road was closed for around three and a half hours while the emergency services attended the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police motor patrols on 101 quoting reference 641 of 11/10/17.
