A WIMBLEDON man has launched an appeal for photos of a tennis star who played at Peebles Hydro in the 1930s.

Richard Jones, of the Tennis Gallery in Wimbledon, contacted the Peeblesshire News to ask for help to track down as much information on Anita Lizana, who played in the Scottish Tennis Championships at the Tweeddale Hotel between 1935 and 1937.

He told us: "I am currently working with Anita Lizana’s daughter Ruth Weston on a book about her mother’s life, and we will be pleased to hear from anyone who has photographs, postcards, press cuttings or any other information relating to tennis at the Peebles Hydro in the 1930s.

"Please contact me at 112 Arthur Road, Wimbledon Park, London, SW19 8AA. Tel 020 8715 8866, email richard@thetennisgallery.co.uk"
