IT'S snow joke! The Met Office have issued a warning for snow for the Borders this weekend.

A yellow (be aware) alert has been raised by the forecaster, and will be in effect between 4am and 11.55pm on Sunday, December 10.

The weather warning from the Met Office states: "A spell of heavy snow is possible over some central parts of the UK during Sunday.

"This could lead to road, rail and air travel delays, with the potential for vehicles to become stranded or public transport to be cancelled.

"Rural communities with limited access routes could become cut off."

It adds: "1-5cm of snow is possible quite widely, and up to 10cm in places. Over higher ground, 20cm is possible in a few places.

"There is currently a good deal of uncertainty over the precise track of the areas of rain and snow."

The weather warning stretches from the Borders to Dumfries and Galloway, and into the North East of England and Cumbria, and includes vast parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
