A PEEBLES man who told his wife he would kill their children if she did not return immediately from a trip to London has been placed on supervision for the next two years at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

Adrian Kotula gave her just three hours to return from the capital in a phone call at 8am - which would have been impossible given her schedule.

She said she would come as quick as she could and when she arrived at around 6pm, an argument soon developed and the 35-year-old was abusive towards her accusing her of cheating on him.

During the dispute he presented a knife which was witnessed by the couple's seven year old daughter.

The court was told the relationship is now at an end.

Kotula, of Northgate, Peebles, pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour at a house in Elcho Street, Peebles, on March 18.

He was given a two year Community Pay Back order which includes supervision.
